Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial Offer
You know what’s fun to do when it’s really hot outside? Sit inside with the A/C on and watch TV. You know what’s a good way to watch TV? Amazon Prime.
(This is an air conditioner. It makes your room colder.)
This is obviously a “click this link to try out Amazon Prime for 30 days for free” thing. That said, I use Amazon Prime and it’s really cool. The free shipping is nice, but the TV and movie library is very deep. There are even some titles that Netflix doesn’t have (and vice versa).
The bottom line is that you can try out Amazon Prime for free. What’s bad about that? Nothing. So here you go.

What have I watched on Amazon Prime? Bionic Woman.

No Six Million Dollar Man, but maybe someday.
Amazon Prime also has Downton Abbey. So you get stuff both nerdy and semi-highbrow.
It’s free for 30 days! Give it a try.
Agent Coulson Lives On “S.H.I.E.L.D.” TV Show (NYCC)
Avengers and Clark Gregg fans rejoice — Agent Coulson Lives!
This is listed as breaking news from New York Comic Con (aka NYCC 2012) on Comic Book Resources. We’ll give them the credit because (a) it appears to be deserved and (b) we haven’t seen this news anywhere else. So you go, CBR!
Bottom line — S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Coulson, aka “The Son of Coul”, played by actor Clark Gregg, will have a role of some kind on Joss Whedon’s upcoming Marvel-inspired comic book TV show, which we believe is titled “S.H.I.E.L.D.”
What is unclear is how exactly it will be explained that Agent Coulson is still alive. What is clear is that I’m enough of a fanboy about this particular area of Geek Gold Card land that I don’t really care.
For the uninitiated… Well, hell’s bells, there’s no way to explain this bit o’ nerdy news without giving away one of the coolest moments of the Avengers movie. So if you haven’t seen it yet, please do so. We highly recommend the Avengers Blu-Ray Combo Pack which comes with a digital copy, a regular DVD, and lots of nifty geeky extra features. You could buy it from Amazon.com and have it shipped faster than you can say “tesseract”. Well, maybe not quite that fast. But pretty fast. Or watch it on any of the numerous streaming video outlets.
Seriously, if you haven’t seen The Avengers, that’s OK (sort of). But I watched it again recently and it’s a lot of fun.

James Holmes’ Father Goes To Colorado, and Reflections on TV News, TMZ, and Kids Doing Journalism
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BwqFgnl4rMs]
James Holmes, the man accused of shooting dozens of people at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, will get a visit from his father.
From where did I get this news? TMZ.
Yes, that TMZ. Weird Al did a song parody of Taylor Swift’s ‘You Belong With Me’ called ‘TMZ’ on his recent album Alpocalypse. Whenever I hear “TMZ”, I think of that song. (This is why there’s a Weird Al video at the top of this post.) I certainly don’t think “trenchant news reporting”. So I was surprised to find that this particular TMZ broadcast did a nice job of reporting on the Colorado shooting.
Here are some of my thoughts about the awful event in Colorado, how it was covered in the media, and kids practicing the ancient art of journalism from their bedrooms. Read more »
Avatar The Last Airbender Is Awesome Despite The Movie (Updated With New Show Info)
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CggapZLtWdo]
I’ve been watching Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender via Netflix with Thing 2 for a second time; Dark Horse Comics has been publishing comics that continue the tale told on TV and we both wanted to get back into that world. Since M. Night Shyamalan’s live-action Airbender movie was so awful, I also wanted to make sure that DaddyTips readers are aware of how awesome the cartoon and comics are, despite the fact that the movie was terrible. Also of note is a new animated series, Avatar: The Legend of Korra, which starts July 9th which has been on the air for awhile now but somehow I didn’t notice. I don’t know anything about the show, although I have a feeling I’ll be watching it. For now let’s discuss the original. Read more »
Game of Thrones Marathon on HBO Zone
Hide the kids. Beginning on June 2, there will be a Game of Thrones marathon on HBO Zone.
What means this news? All nine episodes of Season 2 will be shown on HBO Zone, a sister channel to HBO. Sort of like Cersei Lannister, without all the scheming.
New Green Arrow TV Show Drops Green, Keeps Arrow
Possible good news for those of us who miss having a live action superhero TV show to watch. The CW, the network formerly known as WB and once the airer of the not-quite-Superman series ‘Smallville’, has picked up the pilot for ‘Arrow’, which features a main character not entirely unlike Green Arrow. We know that he’s an archer named Oliver Queen who fights crime using a bow and feathered shafts he stores in a quiver. What’s not clear to me is whether or not he’s green. Read more »
Small Wonder Intro (DaddyTube)
Here is the intro to the wacko TV show Small Wonder.

“She’s fantastic / Made of plastic…” Are we sure this isn’t a Lennon/McCartney tune?
