Ernie Anastos And The Chicken
There are many great screw ups on television, especially on the nightly news. It’s live. Something slips out. It happens. But this one by New York anchorman Ernie Anastos might be the best one ever.
While doing the Fox 5 news broadcast, Anastos turned to the weatherman and said “Keep fucking that chicken.” He did. Listen:

He apologized, saying that he meant to say “keep plucking that chicken.” I make that mistake all the time.

Death Metal Dog
It’s basically a Stupid Pet Trick, but it’s a good one.

What’s funny, at least to me, is that there is a death metal band with a dog as a lead singer. Caninus. Or as they call it, Pit Bull Grindcore. Here’s a sample of their oeuvre:

Geek Porn Circa 1987
This clip is from the Computer Chronicles. It features columnist and Cranky Geek John C. Dvorak taking apart an old IBM PS/2. It wasn’t old then, of course.

As a commenter says, “Dvorak looks so young. I love how? he geeks out on the computer.” He really seems like he can’t keep his hands off the thing. Everyone else keeps talking, and he just keeps poking, prodding and futzing away. Say what you will about Dvorak, but he’s the real thing.
Five Year Old Sings Folsom Prison Blues
I discovered Johnny Cash somewhat late in my life. Not that my life is over, mind you. But I only started sampling the Man in Black around the time that he came out with his brilliant cover of the Nine Inch Nails song “Hurt.”
This kid, however, appears to have been exposed to Cash much earlier. Like five years old. Not only is he familiar with the music, he can sing Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues.”
Do we really believe the little guy when he sings, “I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die”? No. But that’s OK. As Hannah points out over at Strollerderby, “After you check out little Wesley singing the Folsom Prison Blues at a coffee shop in Seattle, I think you’ll agree that this is far too awesome to be inappropriate.”
Here’s Cash doing the song himself. Watch both videos, then give me 500 words comparing and contrasting the two styles.
Passing On The Craziness – Moon Landing Hoaxes
One surefire method to ensure that your child grows up to be a lunatic is to expose them to conspiracy theories at a young age.
Children are impressionable. Combine that natural openness with the idea that “Dad is a figure of a Godlike knowledge” and bingo! They’ll believe what you tell them.
Now, we know this is not entirely true. When one of the first couples in my circle of friends had a son, I kept trying to tell him at a barbecue that there were aliens on the roof. He just looked at me and said, “No. You’re wrong,” with a big dopey grin on his face.
Luckily, the Internet offers “proof” of numerous crackpot theories. One the crackpottiest is the idea that the 1969 moon landing was faked.
One piece of “proof” is the “fact” that the flag the astronauts planted on the moon was blowing in the wind. But! There is no wind on the moon! And here is video “proof”!

Here is “We Never Went To The Moon” by UFOetry, or as I like to call it, “Moon Hoax Music You Can Dance To.”
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nn6WZf_eOvE]
This is all, of course, a load of crap. In the interest of equal time, here is a clip from the show Mythbusters debunking the flag waving business.
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCPIchZDSr4]
There’s lots more from both sides, of course. For anti-hoax material, check out the moontrue channel on YouTube. But what fun is that? Wouldn’t it be much better to have your son or daughter grow up just like Realitysurfer, who actually took the time to confront Buzz Aldrin and ask him: why should we believe that you were on the moon? Where is your proof, sir?
[youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9pQ1gWzs40]
So if you want your kid to grow up to be a crazy person, try showing them all of this “proof.” That way you can support them financially forever! Won’t that be fun?

Jane Fonda in Barbarella
They don’t make ’em like this anymore. They wouldn’t get away with it. Which is too bad. Because Jane looked hot in “Barbarella“.
