Mimobot USB Flash Drives On Sale (DaddyDeals)

DaddyDeal for you — big sale on MIMOBOT® flash drives, including Batman (DKR, as in Dark Knight Returns, or maybe Dark Knight Rises — if it matters to you, look before you buy, which you should be doing anyway).

Batman (DKR) X MIMOBOT ® - On Sale and Almost Gone

Look at that cute scowl. And his enormous cranium. Doesn’t it scream “buy me”?

Holiday gift giving season is coming up fast. Chanukah is on Thanksgiving. Seriously. If Chanukah is your holiday, you don’t have as much time to shop as you did last year; you might want to start shopping now.

Flash drives actually make good gifts for kids. Why? Lots of reasons.

– Older kids can use them for school.

– Younger kids can use them to move files from a computer to the flash drive and back.

– Younger siblings can stop being jealous of their older sibling’s flash drive.

All good reasons. And these particular flash drives are cute as well as useful.

Batman is listed as “almost gone”, which isn’t a big surprise considering the price is under 20 bucks as of this writing. (Pricing depends on memory size. And which character you buy. And other stuff. We just provide the link; details are at Mimobot.com.) If you don’t want Batman, Mimobot’s site has lots of other options, including Babo, Big Toe, Brickle, Emily the Strange (which we think looks a lot like Batwoman), Galacula, Galaxor2, Ice-Bat, and even Kilowog! Kilowog is “almost gone” as well. Why? Because Kilowog is AWESOME. (For those who don’t know, Kilowog is also a DC character, part of the Green Lantern Corps.)

Kilowog MIMOBOT

Sale ends 10/31/13, aka Halloween. Scary! (Not actually that scary.) Hit the link below to get your favorite Mimobot on sale before it goes bye bye.

Discount Tips From Lifehacker (DaddyDeals)

We love us some deals, be it free stuff or discounts. Lifehacker has a list of ten intriguing tips to help reduce the total amount of your daily expenditures. That’s a fancy way of saying “save money on stuff.”

My personal favorite? Using 867-5309, aka Jenny’s number, when a store requests your personal digits. Lifehacker’s writers suggest that perhaps someone has already opened an account with that famous phone number and you will get whatever discount they get. Whether you feel this is unethical, that’s up to you. Personally I think it’s clever and kinda funny.

Lee Daniels’ The Butler Is A “Father And Son Story” (DaddyTube) – UPDATED

In this video about the new movie The Butler, Lee Daniels says that he wanted to make the film because it’s “a father [and] son story, a love story between a father and his son”. The father is Forest Whitaker, the titular butler, and his son apparently gets involved in the civil rights movement. I did not know this. Now I do.

In general, the video makes a much better case for the film than the trailer. By that I mean I’m more interested in seeing it, in part because it’s about fathers and sons, and also because it seems to be about more than what was in the trailer. Not to pile on the trailer. I just think these interviews make the movie seem a lot more interesting.

Link below in case the embed doesn’t work.

UPDATE:  Not of the “breaking news” variety, but I wanted to mention that the interviews were done by Brad Barton, and that he posted a longer version of his interview with Oprah Winfrey. See below.

Stars With Rock Star Dads (Links)

Some of these are well-know — Liv Tyler and Steven Tyler, for example — but who knew Minka Kelly’s dad once played guitar for Aerosmith? Check out the link below; there are worse ways to spend the next five minutes.

Free Digital Superman Comic From Amazon – UPDATED

Amazon is offering a free Superman Digital Comic when you sign up for the Amazon Comics Newsletter. Click the link below for details. Limited time only, disclaimer disclaimer disclaimer.

Sign Up for the Amazon Comics Newsletter and Get a Free Digital Comic

UPDATE: I did it. Signed up for the Amazon Comics Newsletter. Received a “code for a Free Download of Superman No. 1” via email, clicked the link, entered the code, and look, on my screen, it’s not a bird, it’s not a plane, it’s a digital Superman comic, which in this case means this particular issue of Superman from 2011. (Just so you know what you’re getting for free.)

Amazon would like you to read comics on a Kindle Fire, but if you don’t have one you can read the issue in a web browser. I think you can read it on the old school Kindle but I’ve never tried and it won’t be in color, of course. (Great Rao, I said “old school Kindle“.) When I checked out, no mention was made of reading Kindle comics using the Kindle app on an Android device. Nor is there any mention made of reading them on an iPhone or iPad.

Anyway, I got my free comic. Or more accurately received a license to read said comic digitally. Was granted a license to read the comic? Something like that. Only Jor-El knows for sure. If you want your freebie, click the link below.

Links: Parenting Quotes From Tony Soprano

In memory of James Gandolfini (RIP), the superb Sunny Chanel of Babble.com collected some parenting quotes from Tony Soprano.

My personal favorite is “if she figures out we’re powerless, we’re f**ked,” which Tony says while discussing how difficult it is to discipline his daughter.
