All the M*A*S*H for 60 Bucks

Amazon Deal that ends tonight, so move fast if you want it — get all the M*A*S*H for 60 bucks.

Technically the price is $59.99. But there might be tax which would make it more. So let’s say 60 bucks, for which you receive 34 DVDs. Not bad, right?

Just to make things interesting, here’s a personal M*A*S*H story. Because we used to watch whatever was on TV, I watched a fair amount of M*A*S*H, even when I was too young to fully appreciate it. This was extremely true when I saw an episode in which Klinger has some sort of nightmare. That’s all I remember — other than the fact that I was scared out of my mind. I’m fairly certain it gave me nightmares, and TV generally doesn’t do that.

Obviously M*A*S*H is one of the all-time great television shows, true classic tv, and the movie it’s based on is worth seeing as well. So go ahead and buy this uber-collection. But do it today because Amazon says it goes bye-bye tomorrow.

Lots of Star Trek Comics for Not Much Money

Wants lots of Star Trek comics for not much money? We gotcha covered.

Well, Humble Bundle does.

What’s Humble Bundle? Read on.

Pay what you want for Star Trek comics and support charity!

Humble Bundle is… well, here’s a quote from their web site:

At Humble Bundle, we put the power directly in the hands of consumers. You pay what you want for downloadable content and choose where your money goes. Through this model and the help of the Humble Bundle community, we’ve raised over $75M for charity.
So how does it work? We put together bundles of games and books that can be purchased at whatever price you think is fair. Once you’ve chosen a price, you can choose whether you want your money to go to the game developer or book publisher, charity, or Humble Bundle. We also offer the Humble Store, a digital storefront that features individual games at set prices with frequent discounts and a portion of sales going to select charities.

No idea what I’m talking about, orjust want me to cut to the chase? Basically, Humble Bundle gets a bunch of stuff (video games, comics, books) bundles them together and allows people (you) to pay whatever they want for it. The money goes to charity, and you get to decide what percentage of your money goes where. It’s very easy and you get to feel good about consuming mass quantities of digital stuffs because it’s for charity. Also you get a lot for your money.

In this case, we’re talking about $351 worth of digital comics for… well, the most anyone has paid as of this writing is $51.06. The average is $14.26. All Star Trek comics. I’ve read some of them and “Star Trek/Planet of the Apes: The Primate Directive” is worth $14.26 all by itself. (Seriously. It’s really fun. Much better than it has any right to be.) The same could be said for “Star Trek: Year Four“, which is a comic book version of the fourth year of the Enterprise’s five-year mission. (Remember? it was a five-year mission that was canceled by the Gods of Television.) A lot of the others are good too, and those are just the comics I’ve read. You get a LOT MORE.

Check it out. Share with your kids. It’s easy because the comics are provided with no DRM, meaning you can copy them to whatever device you choose. If you go above a certain amount you even get a print book.

It’s a good deal, folks. Check it out. Limited time offer; your mileage may vary. DaddyTips takes no responsibility for anything.

Marvel Buy One Get One Free Sale at Comixology

Oh snap. Big sale on Marvel comics. From now until Sunday, April 24th at 11:59 PM EST (West Coast readers take note), there is a Marvel Buy One Get One Free Sale at Comixology. Digital comics, folks. Such a deal!

Marvel Buy One Get One Free Sale

The sale includes not only individual issues but also collections, which is kind of awesome. In fact, it also includes Marvel MAX titles, such as Alias, the comic that introduced Jessica Jones.

Schmendrick that I am, I already bought all of the Alias collections after watching the Jessica Jones Netflix series. But if you haven’t done that, and you want to read the Marvel comics that inspired the TV show, you can do that now and save yourself some money.

Instructions should be on the Comixology page, but I’ve been told by a little bird (OK, by a PR person from Comixology) that all you need to do is “enter the code MARVEL at checkout on comixology.com.” Also: “This offer does not apply to Marvel bundles or pre-orders and can only be redeemed on comixology.com.” Get it? Got it? Good. Happy shopping.

The usual disclaimers — DaddyTips.com is not responsible for anything regarding your experience with this deal. We are simply repeating what we were told via email, and what it says on Comixology’s web site.

A brief word about digital comics — I’ve embraced them because I have no room for more stuff. I still buy comic books weekly, for myself and for my kids. And I still love reading physical comic books, both individual issues and trade paperbacks. But… I have no room. And the digital thing is so damn easy. Is there any resale value? Of course not. It’s a digital file. But if you’re willing to buy a movie, TV show, book, or other form of entertainment digitally (and you know you are, at least most of you) you should consider adding digital comics to your diet of media consumption. Also, there’s a sale. We like sales.

Happy reading. Avanti!
