TV Reporter Suspended For Blaming Problems On ‘Young Black Men Growing Up Without Fathers’
A TV newsperson actually said, “The underlying cause for all this, of course: young black men growing up without fathers.”
This is one of those times when I have to check the calendar to make sure that this is indeed 2014, not 1972.
Here’s the video. It’s short.
Kid Takes Grampa’s Car On Joyride, Stopped By Vigilante Truck (Video)
You know the story. You’ve heard it a thousand times. Some punk kid takes his grampa’s truck on a joyride through a crowded park, needlessly endangering the lives of dozens of people. The kid manages to avoid the police for awhile, until a vigilante truck stops him cold.
What? You say you’ve never heard that story? Me neither. Especially not the “vigilante truck” part. That term reminds us of “Speed Buggy.” Remember that show? It was fun.
Kind of like “Scooby Doo” but the dog is a car. But I digress.
Back to the story: here’s video of the truck stopping the kid. It’s a bit intense.

Ed Begley Jr. in Son of The Invisible Man
Here is Ed Begley Jr. in Son of The Invisible Man, from the sketch comedy movie Amazon Women On The Moon.
I’m posting this because it was referenced in a comment on The Onion AV Club on an article titled “Ed Begley Jr. and Mariel Hemingway tricked into appearing in an anti-green energy video”. Which could easily be a parody headline on The Onion, but sadly is a real headline about something that actually happened.
The story, if you don’t want to read it, is about James O’Keefe, the self-proclaimed “conservative activist” who tries to “catch” so-called “liberals” or other people he doesn’t like doing things that are supposedly embarrassing. You may remember him from such films as ACORN. (It wasn’t called ACORN, but that story got a lot of coverage at the time. Probably more than it deserved, honestly.)
In this case I read the comment that mentioned Son of The Invisible Man and wondered what it was. So I googled it. Shockingly, it is available instantly, if unofficially, on YouTube. You here you go.

Jimmy Kimmel Has A Kid Therapist (DaddyTips Featured Video)
I don’t stay up late enough to watch Jimmy Kimmel. Luckily there’s this thing called YouTube and the good folks at Kimmel post videos from the show. This one, in which Mr. Kimmel visits his kid therapist, is more than worthy of being our DaddyTips Featured Video.
Seriously, watch the whole thing, even though it’s a whopping 4 minutes long. Read more »
Neil Armstrong Says The World Needs Nerdy Engineers
In our ongoing effort to get more excited about space travel and all things space science-y, here is a video from Universe Today in which Neil Armstrong says the world needs more nerdy engineers.
Universe Today (UT… actually, I don’t want to use that abbreviation, people might think I’m talking about the University of Texas, or the state of Utah) is a very cool web site that I was recently turned on to by Lucas Gonze. It is something that I should read daily. I’m saying this publicly in order to shame myself into following through on that plan.
Also, this pic from the Universe Today twitter feed is all sorts of awesome.
Awesome! RT @kpcuk: ;) .-? / |? ?| ? ? | . ?| |[][][]| |F9?| |?? | S | | P | | -? | C? | E | | X? | |?? |?? /_/_

Watch A Captain America Movie From 1944 For Free
Captain America: The Winter Soldier will be in theaters on Friday, April 4. But if you want you can watch a Captain America movie from 1944 for free, thanks to the good folks at the Internet Archive.
The film, an old black and white serial, runs 25 minutes and 16 seconds and is titled Captain America, Chapter 1 (1944). It stars Dick Purcell as Captain America, aka Grant Gardner (more on this in a moment), Lorna Gray as Gail Richards, Lionel Atwill as Doctor Maldor (think he might be a bad guy with that name? He also wears a monocle), along with Charles Trowbridge and Russell Hicks. The description from IMDB is as follows: Read more »
