Hey dad, could you shut up?
Do your parents ever say things that make you want to hide your face? Do they say them to the New York Times?
My guess is that Uma Thurman’s dad has said stuff like this her whole life, so its not that big a deal. Still, it’s one thing to say, “I want to find the mother in Dick Cheney,” at home. (“Pass the butter, dear.”) It’s another thing to see it in print.

New Design
As you can see, we’re redesigning the site (actually, someone else is, we’re not this talented.) Might be some quirks until the bugs are worked out, but, like having kids, it’ll all be worth it.

Here’s the thing about cultural sensitivity: it’s good to respect other cultures but when it involves bodily harm, it’s OK to ask a few questions. Female circumcision, for example. For me, throwing babies off of a roof seems like a really bad idea. But hey, what do I know?
