DaddyDeal – Disney/Pixar Greatest, 25 Songs For Less Than Four Bucks

Like Pixar movies? Like the music from Pixar movies? Like to save money? Have we got a DaddyDeal for you.

Disney/Pixar Greatest

Disney/Pixar Greatest, 25 songs for less than four bucks.

Amazon has a set of 25 songs from Pixar movies for $3.99. Less than four bucks, folks. Instantly downloaded to your computer, or streamed via Amazon Cloud.

If you prefer, you can buy the CD for $4.99. Which is also a very good deal. This way you get the CD, which can easily be ripped onto your computer. And probably stored in Amazon Cloud, and then streamed. Maybe. Haven’t tried that yet.

The truth is at this moment in time I’m more inclined towards downloads. Not that I don’t think there’s a loss of audio quality. There is. And you don’t get a physical product. But that’s a plus right now. Because if there’s anything I don’t need, it’s more stuff.

I know. I’m the one who always says it’s your patriotic duty to buy things. First of all Read more »

Get Black Friday Deals All Week At Amazon

Why wait until Friday for Black Friday deals? Amazon has Black Friday deals all week long. Starting now. Monday November 19.

Now, you might say, if you are calendar-centric, that Black Friday Deals Week is a strange sounding phrase. You might even be correct. To you we say… well, not much. Basically Amazon is offering deals on all kinds of stuff all week, not just on Friday. Meaning you can shop now from the comfort of your home or office. Or the bus. Or wherever you happen to be. Ain’t technology grand?

Bonus: For no reason other than we like the song, here is a little tune from Alice Leonz, an Indonesian artist we discovered on Fandalism. It’s a nice mellow number, which is helpful if you need to calm down because the notion of Black Friday Week is making you cuckoo.

There. Feel better? Now go buy stuff. It is your patriotic duty.

Headline Of The Day — Sunscreen Recall

Via Strollerderby at Babble.com:

Upside: Banana Boat sunscreen will help you achieve a deep brown color.

Downside: Banana Boat sunscreen might make you catch fire.

The “catch fire” part requires contact with an open flame. Still. It’s not a desirable outcome when one uses sunscreen.

More from Strollerderby:

In the past year, five people have been burned after using Banana Boat. According to the company, the problem is believed to stem from the spray valve, which somehow results in the lotion taking longer to dry, thereby increasing the risk of flammability.

“If a consumer comes into contact with a flame or spark prior to complete drying of the product on the skin, there is a potential for the product to ignite,” the company said in a statement.

So it’s not quite Spontaneous Human Combustion. But check the recall anyway.

Free To Be You and Me 40th Anniversary at Slate DoubleX

DoubleX at Slate.com has a series of articles by Dan Kois on the 40th anniversary of “Free To Be…You And Me“. I haven’t read them all but I do love me that album. (I can call it an album because it was released in 1972 — ack — and was, in fact, an album. So there.)

This bit of text caught my eye:

…I remember the odd feeling of dissociation, even then, as I tried to relate the world of “Free To Be” with the world I actually lived in—1981 suburban Whitefish Bay, Wis. Because in my elementary school, it wasn’t, actually, all right to cry. Not if you were a boy. And certainly no boy in my second-grade class would admit to having a doll the way William does in “William’s Doll.”

It wasn’t just you, dude. The timing is a bit different but that one confused me too. Because it sure as hell wasn’t alright for boys to cry at my school. And we played with action figures rather than dolls. There is a difference, sort of.

Anyway, link to the first of three articles is below. Happy 40th Anniversary to “Free To Be”!
