Watching Movies With Salinger
Great ‘Talk of the Town’ item from the New Yorker. Worth reading but here’s my quick take:
Guy calls his friend Matt who says, “Hey, stop by my place and watch a movie with my dad.” Yeah, whatever. Except that Matt’s dad is J.D. Salinger. So the author, John Seabrook, goes over with his girlfriend and they watch movies on a reel to reel projector with J.D. Salinger. Who, by the way, made popcorn.
It’s not exactly the 10th story, but it’s certainly good enough to be number 9 1/2. Hell, if it had happened to me, it would be number one.
And don’t forget — J.D. Salinger Was Captain America’s Dad.
