Last Minute Show Notice – TONIGHT at 7pm

So yeah, we should’ve given you more notice, but if you happen to be in NYC and are looking for something to take the kids to tonight at 7pm – that’s Friday October 2 at 7pm, aka THIS EVENING – consider The Commedia Rapunzel.

The Commedia Rapunzel

Full disclosure: we haven’t seen the show. Here’s what we’ve got for you:

  • The Commedia Rapunzel is part of the Fringe Encore Series, which means that out of the umpteen shows in FringeNYC, this was one of the few that got to continue after the Fringe Festival was over.
  • Here’s two quotes praising the show:
“As much for the parents as it is for the kids!”- Douglas Carter Beane (famous playwright person)
“It’s the funniest play I’ve seen in years.” – Jasper Magazine
  • Tickets are $18, but only $13 for children 13 and under.
  • From the press materials:
The Commedia Rapunzel originally premiered at Columbia Children’s Theatre in South Carolina in 2013 where it sold out the entirety of its run. It follows the Spaghetti and Meatball Players, a troupe of poor traveling ‘Italian’ actors, as they present a hilarious zany musical romp through a twisted re-telling of the fairytale ‘Rapunzel’ done in the style of Commedia dell Arte! Expect the unexpected in this wild night of participatory theatre that is wacky, crazy, fun for the entire family.”

Here are the details. Last minute, I know, but maybe you can make it. Remember: we haven’t seen it, but it sounds good. We take no responsibility if you don’t like it. But other people did like it, which is the only reason the show is running past it’s Fringe Fest engagement.

Katie Holmes & Suri Feed Giraffes in NYC

As much as I dislike the fact that Katie Holmes and her daughter can’t go out in public without being photographed, this is a cute picture of Suri feeding the giraffes at the Bronx Zoo. While the actions of Ms. Holmes, Suri, and Tom Cruise do not affect my life in any way, as a parent I like seeing a famous mom and her famous kid enjoying a normal family activity. Not because they’re celebrities. Because in theory it means that they can, y’know, do normal stuff like go to the zoo without being bothered.
Then again, I’m writing about a picture of them at the zoo. So I can’t say if they were being bothered or not. Maybe the photo was taken by a particularly talented chimp instead of by a crazed paparazzi.
