As most of you know, being a SAHD WAHD means not getting out of the house all that much. When we do, it’s not exactly The Wolfpack, although we did go to Vegas once, also courtesy of the good folks at Crown Royal. Here’s a pic; the full gallery is here.
This time we’re off to Indianapolis. Here’s the deal — Crown Royal sponsors an annual NASCAR race, which this year is named for United States Marine Gunnery Sergeant Samuel Deeds. From the press release:
While deployed in Iraq, Deeds came across an improvised explosive device (IED) while setting up a vehicle checkpoint. Upon seeing fellow Marines approaching, he exposed himself to the device, risking his own life to save others. He was severely injured and underwent more than 30 surgeries and procedures following the blast. Three years later, while still recovering, Deeds’ heroic instincts took charge once again when he saved the lives of three individuals caught in a rip tide off the coast of North Carolina.
There’s more — country music star Justin Moore, who wrote a new song called “Heroes” in honor of this year’s race. If you are 21 or older, go to CrownHeroesSong.com to download the tune for free. And each time the song is downloaded between now and the race on July 28, Crown Royal has promised to donate one dollar to the Armed Forces Foundation. Nice, right? Go do that. It’s OK, we’ll wait.
You’re back? Got the song? Cool.
DaddyTips is one of a select group of blogs chosen to attend the race. We will also participate in a scavenger hunt and get to see Justin Moore perform live.
Here are some of the other sites that will be covering the Crown Royal Presents The Samuel Deeds 400:

Full disclosure: expenses for this trip are provided by Diageo, the parent company of Crown Royal.
We’ll post more later on, including photos of Samuel Deeds, Justin Moore, and the good folks from the Armed Forces Foundation.
For now, we leave you with the music video for Justin Moore’s song “Heroes.” Don’t forget to download it for free at CrownHeroesSong.com.
