Terminator 2: Judgment Day on Blu-ray Only Five Bucks (DaddyDeals)

Terminator 2 Judgment Day Blu-Ray

He said he'd be back. He was right.

Here’s a nice DaddyDeal we found just in time for Father’s Day. Terminator 2: Judgment Day on Blu-Ray for only five bucks. Like we said — nice.  Remember when Terminator 2 hit theaters? It was a big deal. Arnold Schwarzenegger was still Ah-nuld — “Come viff me if you vant to live.” The liquid metal special effects of the T-1000, aka the other Terminator (played by Robert Patrick), were mind-blowingly awesome. James Cameron was in full action movie blow stuff up mode and we loved it. Here’s a trailer. Warning: the volume gets really loud in the middle.

It’s all there. Real trucks blowing up, early CGI effects, and Ah-nuld. Let’s face it. No one will ever fully replace Schwarzenegger as a major-league action movie star. It’s not that he was a great actor, although he certainly was a great movie star. It was the gestalt, the whole package. T2 was Ah-nuld’s pinnacle, his last gasp before he was too big to play a bad guy. He hadn’t started his political career yet; he was still the Terminator, not the Governator. Plus I think we can all agree that the world was a different place in 1991. For one thing, there were more topics that we could all agree upon, or at least if we didn’t agree we were less likely to go online and yell at each other about our disagreements. This is in part due to the fact that not many people “went online” in 1991, but also because the world wasn’t as divided politically as it is today. Remember 1992? Bill Clinton? Boxers or briefs? So last century.

But! For only five dollars you can re-live the movie magic of 1991, using today’s technology! I bought Terminator 2: Judgment Day on Blu-ray because really, for five dollars, why not? While I haven’t had a chance to watch it yet, I imagine that it will look quite good on a high-def screen. I find that movies with well-done CGI, such as Iron Man, are well-suited for Blu-Ray. Bottom line is that it has to look better than regular DVD, right? And for five dollars… well, why not? Nice inexpensive Father’s Day gift for dad that he will probably be happy to receive. Or a little present to yourself. Because you deserve it.
