So you know that whole zombie apocalypse thing? The Walking Dead Escape is some sort of live action zombie playdate.
For $70, more if you wait too long to buy tickets, you have the opportunity to attempt to escape from zombies. In a stadium.
It’s unclear if the “walkers” are actors. I hope so.
We do know some things. There are rules. For example:
Absolutely no weapons allowed (real or otherwise).
Well! Glad we cleared that up.
Coming as it does on the heels of the aforementioned rash of zombie
news items, this seems like excellent timing. The 3-day event will occur at Petco Park in San Diego from July 12-14, aka “Convention Week.” Geek Gold Card
members should know that the convention in question is the San Diego Comic Con
, aka Comic Con International, aka Dork Central That Has Been Overtaken By Movie And TV Companies And Now Everyone Complains That It’s Too Crowded And Why Are We Still Going Oh Right Because We Love It.
I personally have never attended the San Diego Comic Con
, just the New York version
, which is fun but has admittedly gotten a bit crowded lately, despite having only been in existence for a few years. San Diego’s event has been around for a whopping 40 cycles, aka years.
As far as I know this Zombie Playdate (new band name? Perhaps) was planned well before the disturbing news reports about supposedly real-life zombies in Florida and some other places; Florida’s face muncher was the first bite of zombie news I heard, and Florida always seems to be a hub for weird news items.
In other zombie news, and further proof that we are rapidly becoming One Nation Under 12
, aka a country full of immature adults, the Center for Disease Control, aka the CDC, a government organization, has published a Zombie Novella
to teach emergency preparedness in an “entertaining” way. You may read more about this on DaddyTips because I may not be able to stay away from it. It’s just too silly.
