A Quick Comment About The Avengers
I have more to say about The Avengers, but here’s a quick comment my son wanted me to make. Semi-spoiler alert.
For those who haven’t seen the movie – and seriously, would you just do that already? – you may want to stop reading now.
Ok? We good? We’re good.
Regarding the bad guy in the post-credits scene. My son thought it was Kang, until we saw his face and he realized it wasn’t. Kang, known as “the Conqueror”, is a time traveler. I’m actually not sure what his powers are but he generally gives the Avengers a rough time. He’s shown up on the current Disney XD cartoon.
Kang would have been a good choice, since he’s primarily an Avengers villain and is arguably less complicated than the guy we got. Both characters are from deeper in the Marvel Universe than what we’ve seen onscreen so far. It will be interesting to see how far future filmmakers feel they can push this particular envelope – at some point moviegoers not steeped in the mighty Marvel mythos could become frustrated when they don’t know what in the name of Stan Lee is going on. Then again, practically everyone seems to love this movie whether or not they know who everybody is. (“Who was that guy at the end?” is, as I said, one of Q’s I have been FA since the movie opened.)
More to come on The Avengers. I can’t seem to stop reading reviews and assorted articles, so I may as well share them with you. Avanti!
