What Dad Did Today 6-8-11
Proving that I am not sitting home waiting for Duke Nukem Forever to arrive in the mail, here is What Dad Did Today.
– Got the kids ready for school, which today included two lunches. TWO!
– Went to Midtown Comics to buy comic books. I’ve cut way back but I managed to get my son hooked on the stupid things, so I feel a responsibility to keep going every week to pick up my stack. Riiight. It’s all for the kids. Seriously, I have cut back a lot, and DC really helped me out with their recent announcement that they’re going to restart all of their titles at #1. I had pretty much bailed on DC already after the debacle that was Batman R.I.P./Return of Bruce Wayne. I still buy some stuff; the current Superman storyline, where he walks across the country like that guy on the lawn mower, has been fun. Captain America has been great. I’m wondering if I should just wait for trade paperbacks, and maybe even — hope you’re sitting down — wait for the books to hit the library. That way I don’t spend any money and I have less stuff to deal with. Ah, First World Problems.
– Took a nap. I was tired.
– Put away the dishes, cleaned the kitchen.
– Made some sort of grain — faro? I can’t remember and I threw out the bag. Mixed it with kale and tomatoes for lunch and it was good. I was sick earlier this week and I need to go back to eating healthy foodstuffs instead of crappola. This process is made easier because it’s so damn hot that I don’t feel like eating anything.
– Put away the laundry while listening to the Howard Stern Show.
– Upgraded a WordPress installation for a web hosting client. I still do some web hosting for other people.
– Realized that I still haven’t seen X-Men: First Class. This is a big, big problem.
I had a realization, which I’ll write about when I can, that for stay-at-home parents like myself, downtime comes at different times of day than it does when you work a more traditional schedule. More to come. For now, listen to me singing Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On, which I recorded by request. Seriously. Then go to the Brett Singer Music Facebook Page and Like it. (Please?)
