DadNews Daily – No Foolin’

We should probably think of all kinds of hilarious pranks to pull for April Fool’s Day. But not here. Maybe in another post. See? I’ll keep you guessing. All of this stuff really happened, at least as far as I know.

The Times might know who the Unknown Soldier was. Or rather who his dad was. Would that make him the Known Soldier? Would I have to buy new t-shirts?

April Fool - Well, not reallyNow we know why Google had to lay off all those people. It was to start a $100 million dollar venture capital fund! I know that one thing has nothing to do with the other but if I were one of the laid off folks, I’d be pissed. Unless I got a good buyout. In that case I’d be haaaapy.

The New York Times says that employment contracts are now seen as being rewritable (in fact, that’s the headline). Except that they always were seen that way — Howard Stern was canned by Clear Channel and they tried to void his contract, and then David Lee Roth was tossed out and had to fight to get paid. Those are just two examples from the radio industry, I’m sure there are thousands more. Heck, I’ve been sued and had to sue people to get contracts enforced, and each time the terms were changed by a judge. So this notion of “the sanctity of the contract” is a lot of hooey.

Oh, and speaking of the economy collapsing faster than David Caruso’s pre-CSI career, GM now says they might declare bankruptcy. That President Obama has some nerve not giving them money with no strings attached. Sheesh.

More tomorrow I’m sure…

In reply to your question posted on AOL’s main page story about Kate & Jon + 8, are they done or will they work it out, I say they’re done but for the sake of the show, will stay together. They’ve got too much of a cash cow going there to give it up.

    Hi Connie,
Thanks for your comment. I guess that makes sense, although it’s tough for me to understand how they make so much money from that show. It’s not exactly a network sitcom.
